Ben is a husband, father, son, sibling and friend whom God called to be a pastor. He and his amazing wife, Lydia, and their daughters, Margot and Phoebe (in June of 2015), arrived in the "Crossroads of Western Civilization" in May of 2014. Ben understands his ministry through the building up of a community where the Risen Christ is proclaimed. Through preaching, worship leadership, weekly Bible studies and small groups Ben aims to work alongside the amazing saints (and sinners) of HMPC to care for this slice of God's Kingdom to which they've been called to nurture.
Lydia is a special education teacher, Margot is a precocious toddler who is excited to teach Phoebe, her little sister everything she knows about being an amazing child of God. Prior to Tarboro, the Kanes lived in Nashville, TN where they met at Vanderbilt Divinity School.
You can contact Ben at firstname.lastname@example.org, follow him on Facebook or Twitter (@revbkane13) or subscribe to his blog, "Rearing Kane".
Carrie Lyon, Children's Christian Education
Carrie joined the HMPC team in June 2017. She is originally from western New York and grew up on Chautauqua Lake, near beautiful Chautauqua Institution. Although she loved the hiking and swimming there, the snow drove her South. She moved to Tarboro to teach, after falling in love with charming Main Street, and 19 years later, she's still here! She's currently at Martin Millennium Academy (MMA) as the media co-ordinator, which is just a fancy way of saying, “librarian”! She also works with students to create and perform musicals for our school community. She is a proud mother of three amazing girls; Lydia, Annalise and Emmeline (Emmie), whom she has fondly dubbed the “von Trapps”, because they are always singing!
Carrie is excited and delighted to be able to work with children, to help nurture their love and understanding of God, and to see, firsthand, the amazing role that Jesus will play in their lives!
