Ben is a spouse, father, son, sibling and friend whom God called to be a pastor. Alongside his wife, Lydia, and their daughters, Margot and Phoebe, he arrived in Tarboro, affectionately called, “The Crossroads of Western Civilization" in May of 2014. Howard Memorial captured their hearts when they first arrived and continues to be a place where strong worship, generous hospitality, and a love of mission and Christian Education is nurtured.
The Kanes look to Lydia, the leader of the pack who love, sustains, and nurtures each of them. She is a spouse, mother, daughter, sibling, and friend who teaches special education at a local elementary school. Margot is a curious seeker, yearning to know more about everything, most notably Harry Potter. Phoebe is an adventurous doer with an imagination as large as the sky.
Prior to Tarboro, the Kanes lived in Nashville, TN where they met at Vanderbilt Divinity School and where Ben served as an Associate Pastor at Westminster and Lydia worked at PathFinders.
Since arriving at HMPC, Ben has led HMPC through preaching, worship leadership, weekly Bible studies and small groups aiming to work alongside the amazing saints (and sinners) of HMPC to care for this slice of God's Kingdom to which they've been called to nurture. His hope is to continue to expand the Kingdom outside the church by providing exceptional Reformed worship that glorifies God and calls us into the world to be Christ’s disciples for one another.
