Howard Memorial is a growing church with growing programs for all ages.

Committees and areas of ministry at our church include: Facilities, Worship, Mission, Administration, Fellowship, Nurture, and Education.

Within the program of the church, or the vital ministry activities in which we grow together in life and in faith, and through which we serve and proclaim the lordship of Christ and the sovereignty of God, we share in the following:

  • 1st Wednesday Night Suppers and Studies: The first Wednesday night of every month we meet for supper and to share a group Bible study.
  • The Messenger: Our monthly newsletter lets our membership know about events in the church while providing theological insight and other interesting information.
  • Church Choir: Our choir provides weekly leadership during worship.
  • Mission Activities: Supporting missionaries overseas, building Habitat homes, overseeing special offerings, and looking for new opportunities to serve here in Tarboro and abroad are the kinds of activities that define the mission of our church.
  • Fellowship: Three fellowship groups meet monthly and we enjoy a variety of church wide suppers, picnics, and other events (like lemonade and cookies in the summertime) all the year through.
  • Church School: Sunday School for every age meets year 'round on Sunday mornings with three classes for adults and classes for every age of child and youth. Overseen by our educational staff and the educational committee, Church School is critical to the development of our faith.
  • Lenten Lectures: During Lent (early spring) our church invites visiting pastors or scholars to come to Tarboro and teach us. This time of in-depth learning and sharing is a highlight of our church year.

For more information on these as well other programs of our church, please contact the church office or visit us in person.
