Youth Ministry at Howard Memorial Presbyterian church is committed to allowing Young Christians in grades 6 - 12 to know, love, and serve God in exciting and challenging ways. Our goal and intention is to create opportunities for our Youth to understand their faith in Christ in the fullest possible ways. We seek to focus our ministry opportunities on the following five areas:

1. Worship and Prayer - each Youth meeting either begins with a time of Youth Worship or prayer. Songs are sung, the Lord's supper is often shared, and prayer requests are honored. We are a community of faith and our worship signifies our commitment to Christ and to one another.
2. Bible Study - at least one Sunday night a month is dedicated to the study of God's Word: faith claims, ethics, and the story of Jesus are the primary areas of focus.
3. Fun and Fellowship - Christian community and communion are shared in our covenant-guided Youth fellowship. Bowling, canoeing, lock-outs and lock-ins, annual ski-trip, and other such activities are highlights of our year.
4. Mission and Christian Service - fundamental to all expressions of Christian ministry is the call to love and serve our neighbors. At least one Sunday a month is dedicated to helping and serving others as Christ has called us to serve: delivering meals to shut-ins; fundraising and giving to organizations like "Make a Wish;" making meals for our local homeless shelter; and serving God in the urban center of Charlotte are but a few examples of commitment to mission.
5. Retreats and Weekend Events - we believe it is critical for our Youth to know that there are other Christian Youth in our region on our state who have the same concerns, interests, and faith as our Youth do. HMPC is committed to participation in Presbytery events, partnerships with sister churches, and Youth Conferences such as Montreat Youth Conference and the Massanetta Springs Middle School Conference.

The Youth Ministry at Howard Memorial meets Fall, Winter, and Spring on Sunday evenings at 5:30PM, usually at the church unless otherwise noted. In summer months we travel on mission and to conferences and meet at least monthly to continue our development in faith and community.
