interim pastor
Rebekah was raised in Georgia and Florida, where her father led several Presbyterian congregations. She received her BA from Stetson University then her MDiv from Columbia Theological Seminary. Rebekah’s first call was to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola, FL, where she enjoyed fourteen years as Associate Pastor before being called to Brandon, FL, where she served seventeen years as Pastor/Head of Staff at First Presbyterian Church. Rebekah and her husband Derek moved to North Carolina in 2013 when she was called as Senior Pastor at Wake Forest Presbyterian. She retired in 2021 and will be leading Howard Memorial through 2024.
bill hilderbrandt
director of music & organist
Bill is the Director of Music/ Organist at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church- Tarboro, NC where he oversees the Adult Chancel Choir, the Youth Ensemble, handbells, and is the organist at the Church. Bill also plays for all weddings and funerals at the church and has been an accompanist and guest conductor with the Edgecombe County Community Chorus.
Bill is a native of Miami, Florida, but loves calling North Carolina home. He holds a BA degree in Music Ed and an organ performance degree from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida. Bill has served many churches in North Carolina, since 1974, and arrived at HMPC in 2007.
angie gregg
Office Administrator
Angie Gregg began working at HMPC in November 2016. She is the Office Administrator and Finance Director at the church, and she comes with a wealth of experience, most notably running the Albemarle Animal Hospital with Sammy, her husband for 31 years. Angie works Monday-Thursday, 9:00 - 5:00, and Friday, 9:00 - 1:00.
Leigh Moore
Office assistant
Leigh Moore has decades of experience and works in the office at HMPC answering phones, greeting people, helping create the Sunday morning bulletin and The Messenger, and preparing the sanctuary for worship. She is in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 - 2:00.
andrea drake
director for children & youth
Andrea has been working with children for over a decade —both teaching elementary school and in volunteering with children’s ministry and leading Sunday School classes. She remembers fondly her experience as a child at church and wants to create those kinds of faith-enriching memories with the kids at HMPC. She loves working with children and sharing the love of Christ with them.
Kate Brittain
communication coordinator
Kate is a native of Tarboro and lifelong member of Howard Memorial. She left Tarboro to earn her B.A. from Meredith College, and eventually found her way back to her home town. Kate has many fond memories of growing up at Howard Memorial and is so happy to be back working with her home church.

nursery director
Kate is a lifelong resident of Tarboro. She has been the church’s Nursery Director since 2023. Kate graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Campbell Law School. She presently teaches exceptional students at Martin Millennium Academy and is the mother of two daughters. Kate’s love for children is on display every Sunday morning in our nursery.
